History

The original residents of Scripps Ranch sent their children to school in temporary facilities (converted houses) in nearby Mira Mesa until 1970. In 1970 a temporary school made from portable buildings was established about a mile from the present site of the school.

This school housed kindergarten through 6th grade. As the neighborhood grew more school space was needed, so another temporary facility was opened on the site of the present school. This was nicknamed "Site 2".

The Scripps Ranch Civic Association had been working with the San Diego Unified School District to get a permanent school built in the neighborhood and finally succeeded in 1973. Construction began on the school in 1974 and it was open for school in September of 1976. A dedication ceremony was held on November 3, 1976. The 30th anniversary celebration of the first permanent school in Scripps Ranch was held on November 3, 2006.
